Super random toy Q re: NA Artilla - head gimmick frozen

    Hey all,

Just got an unplayed-with New Adventures Artilla. It was opened and displayed, but never played with -- looks absolutely brand new. The problem is that his head gimmick doesn't work.

Both of his arm cannons work fine, but when you press the lever on the back of his head, nothing happens at all.

I'm concerned about breaking it but I would like to see it work at least once, and maybe I can do something to help the mechanism function? The card back says to press straight down, but nothing's budging in there... feels like all that will happen is that the lever will bend or break.

Do you need to push it some other certain way, or is there a trick to getting the gimmick to work?

I know this is an incredibly specific question, but hoping one of you wise ones out there might have some insight?? Any info welcome!

    Thanks!!

Try carefully applying a little WD-40 around the button so it seeps in for a few seconds. Then gently press down on the button and see if that works.

    Thanks for the tip.

I gave that a shot and it seemed to loosen something inside his head. Then I got an unfolded paperclip and poked around a bit and something triggered! The gimmick ended up working, so mission accomplished!

    Thanks!

(And I think I may just display it with his head extended to avoid the thing getting stuck again...) ^_^

    AWESOME!!!

Yet another of the more than 2,000 uses for WD-40!

"Whilst the most common use for WD-40 ® Multi-Use Product is protecting metal from rust and corrosion, penetrating stuck parts (emphasis added) , displacing moisture, and lubricating almost anything – WD-40 ® Multi-Use Product truly does have multiple uses!"

And no, I don't own stock in the company...
