A fund raising campaign for the board

With Val's permission, I'd like to start a long overdue fund raising campaign for the board.

I'm not tech savvy enough to know how to do this. I just know it needs to be done. So someone will have to step forward to facilitate it and figure out how to forward funds to Val.

I suggest a very minor donation of $5.00 per member. If only half of the more than 19,000 members of he-man.org take part, that would net $47,500 for Val to use for maintaining and updating the board.

I want everyone to think about the pleasure, joy, laughs, knowledge, information and camaraderie we've all enjoyed over the years...without charge. Now is the time for us to step up and pay it back!

I know the board will be going down for maintenance soon, but if Val is agreeable to this, I'll bump this post when it comes back.

Remember, a good cup of coffee costs around five bucks nowadays. I think this is a very small amount to ask to express our appreciation and help keep the board running smoothly.

Again, I'm just suggesting the idea. I'm asking a tech-savvy board member to facilitate this.

I looked into that but would want someone more knowledgeable than myself when it comes to taxes to read into it. From my understanding, it would count as a gift since we do not pay for this "service" or use of the site. Would like someone to confirm though.


But, if not, we should all reach out to the mods and consider contributing the way the site has always offered. May have to wait till after the possible shut down though.

But yeah, just give money to the site through the already existing Donate button, people. You'll help the site and receive upgrades to your account (like my snazzy badge and a larger avatar!) if you donate enough money. No fuss, no muss.

If you want to advertise a bit, just start a thread: "I just donated to the site and you can, too!" in each forum to hopefully motivate other individuals into doing the same who may not have thought about it.

Hmmm...it looks like the Donate button has disappeared with the announcement of the site going down. I found a link to the donate button but it sent me to the site maintenance thread. I can only assume the site programmers will put the donate button back once the maintenance period is over.
