Okay, anyone who knows me knows that as much as I liked the original He-Man cartoon, I loved the She-Ra cartoon better! I was already anxious about the release of the 2-Disc "Best of She-Ra" DVD release next month. Now, there's going to be a limited edition variant cover of said release. This time, the focus of the cover art will be the movie "The Secret of the Sword"! It's there on the front page for the .org i*** ya didn't know or might be curious. I WANT ONE!!!
My concern is that it will be sold at the Wizard World convention in Chicago. While Val has stated that the LE won't sell for the same price as the standard release, and that he does not expect it to sell out...I have this awful feeling in my gut that the Chicago Horde is going to attend the 'con in force (and then some) and purchase all 1000 of the limited edition sets.

What do you guys think? Is my fear baseless? Or should I possibly share my concerns with Mr. Staples?

Personally, I have two wonderful memories attached to that movie. The first one of course, was going to see it in the theatres way back in 1985. This was at the General 6 Cinema that used to be located outside of Jersey Village, on the corner of 290 West & Jones Road (long before it became a second-run dollar cinema). I vividly remember seeing a man and a woman dressed up in all gold versions of He-Man and She-Ra's costumes...standing on both sides of the doorway into the theater that was showing SotS. IF ONLY I had had the foresight to bring a camera!
The second was 10 years later in 1995 (I believe it was during the summer). One of my older sisters wanted to go to the movies. She scanned thru the paper and saw a listing at the Dollar Cinema in the North Oaks shopping center on 1960 & Veterans Memorial for "Secret of the Sword". She was like "What the heck is that?!?" and I was like gone...like one of them Bugs Bunny cartoons where all that was left of me was a cloud of dust in my shape where I had been standing!

Anywho, that's enough out of me for now fans!

    Mr. Miguel,
Glad to see you posting again. Regarding your concern, I think Val stated a good oppurtunity in getting the variant cover. I would not worry. But if you need to assure, send a quick email to one the Chicago Horde boys and maybe one can get one for you. N E who, next friday (payday) I will buy Superman 1 and 2 and watch them Friday and Saturday then see Superman 3 sunday. Nothing but good reviews from the thread. Later folks!!!

i haven't heard any news from comic con, but i found this in one of the other boards

    http://www.he-man.org/forums/boards/...4&page=1&pp=25

the first page has a poorly translated story from korea that may/may not mean anything. but then there's a story on the second page (that i'm guessing the korean story came from) that offers a glimmer of hope for some direct-to-video he-man stuff. the concensus seems to be that if they make new he-man toons, it would likely be based more on the 80s series. there is also speculation of a motu anime.

but there are a lot of "if"s involved, so i'm not holding my breath just yet.

So I used to buy Transformer back in the day, not as much as he-man. I was walking up and down Toys R Us and I hadn't realized how much Transformers stuff was around, good god! I know some of you collected the stuff back when the New He-man stuff was coming out but my god there are tons of this stuff! Then I saw the preview to the movie!!! Hopefully Michael Bay doesn't f it up. Man I wish He-man had this kind of support.

Good Grief Charlie Brown! Why the overt negativity? No one is making ANYONE post on this thread that I know of! That is to say, unless someone is holding a shotgun to your head, ORKO. If it's passe for you, and you've moved on..then please don't post on here. Stratos probably just wanted to see if any of the gang is still haunting this board. I'm guilty of checking it from time to time. I was looking at all the MIB/MOSC 2002 MotU stuff I still have in a prominent spot in my closet, and got a little nostalgic the other day! Believe it or not, I miss the toy hunts! I also miss the gatherings at the teas shop next to Planet Anime! I would love to get back in contact with a lot of the guys I befriended thanks to this board...and just talk about anything/everything!!

Well, that's about all I can think of right now! Peace out y'all!

i know! there's what, 3 or 4 different transformers lines out there right now? i'm really digging that transformers classics line (which, oddly enough, doesn't say "classics" anywhere on the packaging)

yep Rodimus that would be nice. There are still people who post on this board and are keeping hope alive for a return of He-man, but man I can't tell if it's desperation or Hope that keeps these guys posting, me it's probably a little of both..lol

I'm waiting for the newer series to hit DVD, so I can watch all of them.

So buck, which transformer line is the "classic" line, cause they all look the same to me....man am I getting old or what??? lol

the line that looks like this! not pictured on that site are upcoming figures like jetfire, cliffjumper (repainted bumblebee), ramjet and skywarp (repaints of starscream), and ultra magnus (repainted optimus). they're also rereleasing some toys from past lines for this one, including a g1 soundwave!

and i agree, i'd love it if dvds of the new motu cartoon came out. i know i've got most, if not all, of the episodes on tape, but it's kind of a pain hunting down all the different cassettes they're on. plus the quality's not all that great, and i know a dvd release would have all kinds of extra goodies included

I was looking through my stuff yesterday and found my old Jetfire, it's seen it's better days but for the most part it's in one piece and still transforms, it's missing a couple of parts, but it seems pretty complete, I know his gun is somewhere in the house. I used to have a bootleg soundwave somewhere. Ah those were the good ole days. I wish I would have kept my old WWF wrestlers, you know the heavy azz toys? lol

Can't believe it was July of 2003 when we had our gathering at Michael's

Hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year!

I know the movie deal falling through was a downer, but hopefully we can stay in contact with each other.

Being involved with you guys and the New Toy line really brought back some fond memories of my youth. It felt good to see the friendships that were developed through common interests.

So here's to the Houston Masters, may we always look back with fond memories at a great time, in my life and hopefully yours too.

third planet is pretty cool, but it just feels so empty (people-wise). nearly every time i go there, i feel like i'm the only one there. the people that run the store really should quit hiding in the back (er, front?) and try to be more sociable
