MOTU Video Game Cover Art Revealed: He-Man.Org Exclusive Interview with Artist Freddie Williams II

Recently, Limited Run Games and Mattel revealed the cover art for the hotly anticipated retro-styled “hack-n-slash” video game “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction” featuring art by talented Comic Book Artist Freddie Williams II. Today, we have a He-Man.Org Exclusive look at Williams’ process in creating this new He-Man art.

“He-Man is one of the very most important characters from my youth,” said Williams during an interview with He-Man.org. “I am honored and lucky to get to draw the cover for this amazing video game!”

Williams, who has created art for multiple MOTU projects, talked about why “Dragon Pearl of Destruction” was so special for him.

“I loved playing 16-bit beat-em up games as a kid, so the 12-year-old in me was very excited for this opportunity. I want to thank Limited Run Games and Mattel for letting me connect with the 4th grader inside me that could not wait to get home and watch the [MOTU] cartoon!”

Williams also provided a look at the different “He-Man moods” he drew for the cover.

“Here are a few face options I provided for He-Man’s expression- they [Limited Run Games] went with the moderately intense face, as opposed to the angry face.”

According to Limited Run Games “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction” is set to release in “Early 2026.”
