Revealed yesterday by our very own Royal Palace Historian Jukka Issakainen, the upcoming Masters of the Universe “The Sword of Flaws” comic mini-series gets an exclusive Issue #1 variant cover over at JAF Comics by comic book Artist Chris Campana. Campana took time today to share some images of his drawing process for the variant cover.

“When I was 8, I made my mom buy me Man-at-Arms because I thought he was a friend of the Hulk’s since he was green,” said Campana. “From that moment on, MOTU has been my main fandom. Man-at-Arms is my dude. It’s why he’s featured on this cover.”
Campana has worked professionally in the comic book industry since 2011. Asked about his inspirations, Campana replied, “[Alfredo] Alcala is an absolute master, and [Earl] Norem really made me fall in love with fantasy art.”
Campana also shared that Battle Ram, Battle Bones, Zodac, Trap Jaw, Stratos, and Tri-Klops are among his favorite Masters of the Universe toys.
Masters of the Universe “The Sword of Flaws” is published by Dark Horse Comics and written by Writer Tim Seeley with art by Artist Freddie Williams II. Issue #1 is available for purchase September 24, 2025.
