Ongoing Masters of the Universe Comic Series Announced

Revealed today by IGN, Mattel and Dark Horse Comics have announced an ongoing Masters of the Universe comic series by Writer Tim Seeley and Artist Reilly Brown is happening! Initially teased in an interview with series writer Seeley (timestamp 31:26), the current He-Man comic series “Sword of Flaws” is the jumping-off point for this new ongoing series. He-Man.org sat down with Seeley for an exclusive insider look at the upcoming comics.

“SWORD OF FLAWS was the first arc,” Seeley said. “THE BATTLE OF SNAKE MOUNTAIN is the second arc. I view this ‘continuity’ as the same one as the one the Injustice, Thundercats and [Teenage Mutant Ninja] Turtles crossovers took place in.”

When asked about specific story details, Seeley said that he has lots of plans for what comes next.

“It’s the “default classic” universe, which, at least in my mind, could/might contain everything that has ever come before. All [MOTU] lore is on the table, and this has always been the ongoing series, so I’m just rolling right into the next two arcs.”

About He-Man and Masters of the Universe #5:

Variant Cover by Ciro Neili

THE POWER SWORD, a weapon able to access the power and wisdom of Grayskull, was forged by the most powerful sorcerer in the Universe—HE-RO. It was ordained that the sword would be given to a great champion to protect the Realm in times of need. But He-Ro grew concerned that all the power and knowledge in the universe might be too much for one man. So, he created another blade—one which could be used only if a champion became a tyrant. But an accident corrupted the alternate blade, transforming it into something evil, tainting its metal violet. He-Ro had unintentionally created THE SWORD OF FLAWS.

Realizing the horror of his creation, He-Ro left Grayskull and spent years of his life crossing Eternia to find a place to hide the sword. And there, the Sword of Flaws remained safely hidden. Until now… After the great battle at Heaven Piercer, the Sword of Flaws has fallen into Skeletor’s hands. And with this mystic power, Skeletor is a greater threat than ever before. Can He-Man and the Heroic Warriors stop him before he becomes MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE?

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #5 will be available in comic shops on March 25, 2026.
